About me

I am a maths tutor and social entrepreneur, residing in the North West of England.

I have an MA from Cambridge University (Mathematics Tripos) and MSc from Edinburgh University (Operational Research and Management Science); and A-Levels in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics and Chemistry.

For the past 20 years I have worked for and with a diverse range of companies and organisations; applying my mathematical and scientific discipline, where possible, for the social good.

Organisations include Shell Research, Horticultural Research International, Ministry of Defence, Royal Bank of Scotland, Colin Buchanan, JMP-Systra, Transport for London, CrossRail,CACI Property Consultancy, Westfield Shopping Centres, Grosvenor Group, Leicester Regeneration Company, Transport for Greater Manchester, Cisco, BT, Ordnance Survey, First Buses, Arriva Rail, Northern Automotive Alliance, Alliance Manchester Business School, Salford University, Simply Connect and the TravelSpirit Foundation.

I am currently the Chair of the TravelSpirit Foundation, where we have the ambition to build the ‘Internet of Mobility’ that will provide a future digital infrastructure that will enable an equitable and fully accessible future transport system.

My approach to tutoring is to encourage students to think about, and get motivated by,  the practical application of mathematics. I can also help students visualise mathematical concepts, and put them into practice through the use of coding and interactive Excel spreadsheets.
